Lock and unlock your smartphone keypad

Locking your smartphone keypad prevents accidental or unauthorized use. While it is locked, you can still call 911.

To lock your smartphone

You can set up your smartphone to require a password or PIN each time you want to use it. To set up your smartphone for password or PIN protection, do the following.

1. From the Home screen, tap Menu.
2. Tap Settings.
3. Select Location and security.
4. Select Set screen lock.
5. Select one of the following:
   • PIN: Select this option if you wish to use a numeric code to lock and unlock your smartphone.
   • Password: Select this option if you wish to use a typed word to lock and unlock your smartphone.
6. Type the desired PIN or Password.
7. Tap Continue.
8. Confirm your PIN or Password.
9. Tap OK.

Your smartphone locks.

To unlock your smartphone

1. Tap the Power button located on the top right edge of your smartphone.
2. Type the screen lock PIN or Password.
3. Tap OK.

Your smartphone unlocks.
