Update the software on your smartphone

Keep your smartphone running efficiently by using the latest available software.

Before you update your smartphone, you need to know your current software version.

  1. From the Home screen, tap Menu.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Select About phone.
  4. Scroll down to Android version.
  5. If your Android version is 4.0.4, you don't need an upgrade.
  6. If you need to upgrade your software, follow the instructions below.

Before you begin

CAUTION: Installing a software update may delete your ringtones, contacts, pictures, messages, and other downloaded content.
As a precaution, you may want to backup your smartphone with the LG PC Suite.

Before you begin, you will need the following.

  • A computer with Windows operating system and the following system requirements:
    • Windows 2000 (Service Pack 4 or newer), Windows XP (Service Pack 2 or higher), Windows Vista or Windows 7.
    • At least 512MB of RAM.
    • 1GHz or higher Pentium-compatible processor.
    • Administrator privileges on the computer for software installation.
    • Access to a high-speed internet connection.
    • A working USB port.
  • A fully charged smartphone battery.
  • The USB cable included with your smartphone at the time of purchase.

NOTE: You will not be able to place or receive calls during the software installation procedure.

Download Windows USB Drivers

  1. Launch Internet Explorer or Firefox.
  2. Visit the LG Optimus LTE support page.
  3. Click the WINDOWS USB Driver button.
  4. The File Download window appears. Click Run.
    NOTE: If this screen does not appear, you will need to disable the pop-up blocker from the browser's Tools menu.
  5. The Install Shield Wizard window appears. Click Next.
  6. Follow the onscreen instructions to install the device drivers.

The device drivers are installed on your computer

Download and install the LGMobile Support tool

  1. Launch Internet Explorer or Firefox.
  2. Visit the LG Optimus LTE support page.
  3. Click the Software Update button.
  4. Click Run.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

The LGMobile icon appears on your desktop.

Install the software update on your smartphone

  1. Connect your smartphone to your computer with the USB cable provided in the box.
    Ensure your smartphone is ON and Mass Storage Only is disabled.
    1. From the home screen of your smartphone, tap Menu.
    2. Tap Settings.
    3. Select SD Card & Phone Storage.
    4. Clear the Mass Storage Only checkbox.
  2. Double-click the LGMobile icon on your desktop.
  3. The LGMobile Support Tool window appears.
  4. Click on Options & Help.
  5. Select Country & Language.
  6. Select Canada from the Country dropdown list, then click OK.
  7. Click the red Start Updating button.
  8. Follow any onscreen instructions that might appear.

The update process may take up to 20 minutes to complete.

Confirm the software update installation was successful

To confirm that the software update was successfully installed, do the following.

  1. From the Home screen, press the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Select About phone.
  4. Scroll down to Software version.
  5. Your software version should display Android version is 4.0.4.

If the software version does not match the above version then the software was not updated properly. Try the following:

  1. Disconnect the smartphone from your computer.
  2. Remove the battery.
  3. Reinsert the battery.
  4. Reconnect the smartphone to your computer and select Restart to try the upgrade once again.
