Lock and unlock your keypad / BlackBerry

Locking your keypad prevents accidental or unauthorized use. You can make and receive emergency calls while the keypad is locked.

Password set up

You can set up your BlackBerry® to require a password each time you want to use it. To set up your BlackBerry for password protection, do the following.

  1. From the Home screen, press the Menu key.
  2. Select Maximize Panel.
  3. Select the All tab.
  4. Click Options.
  5. Select Security.
  6. Select Password.
  7. Check the Enable checkbox. A check mark appears.
  8. Select Set Password.
  9. Type your new password and press the Enter key. Verify the password when prompted.
    NOTE: By default, your BlackBerry resets to factory default settings if you mistype this password for ten consecutive unlock attempts.
  10. Set the Lock After field to the desired idle time before your BlackBerry automatically locks.
  11. You can set additional locking options. If you're finished, press the Menu key and select Save.
  12. Type your new password to activate the changes you've just made.

  • Press the lock button located on the top edge of your BlackBerry.

Unlock your BlackBerry

  1. Press the lock button located on the top edge of your BlackBerry.
  2. Select Unlock.
  3. Type your unlock password.
  4. Press the Enter key.

Your BlackBerry is unlocked.
